KOLLUR MOOKAMBIKA TEMPLE

Kollur or Kolluru is a tiny hamlet situated 40km Kundapur Town, about 140 km away from Mangalore City in Karnataka. This village lies at the foot of the Western Ghats, and is famous for the Mookambika temple, a Hindu pilgrim center.

KUKKE SUBRAMANYA TEMPLE

Kukke Subramanya is located amidst hills of Subramanya in western ghats. Lord Subramanya is the deity worshiped in the form of a Cobra in the temple. Pilgrims going to the Temple have to cross the Kumaradhara River, taking a holy bath in it before they go on to the temple to have darshan. The devotees enter the courtyard from behind and walk around to go before the idol. There is Garuda pillar covered with silver between the sanctuary and the portico entrance. It is believed that the pillar was charmed and planted there to shield the devotees from the poison flames streaming from the breath of Vasuki who resides inside.

UDUPI SRI KRISHNA TEMPLE

The holy town of Udupi lies on the Arabian Sea in the South Indian state of Karnataka. The town is famous as a place of pilgrimage because of the temple Sri Krishna Matha. Udupi acquired nation-wide fame, when it was turned into a unique seat of Vedantic learning in the 13th century under the leadership of Sri Madhvacharya. Udupi is said to have attained the status of Vaikuntha, the kingdom of God, because the Supreme Personality of Godhead came and stayed there in response to the desire of His pure devotee Shri Madhvacharya.

MURDESHWAR TEMPLE

Murudeshwar of Bhatkal taluk in Uttara Kannada district is around 165 km from Mangalore on the National Highway attracting lot of devotees and tourists to the place. SRINGERI TEMPLE

Shringeri Sharadamba Temple is located in Shringeri town, in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. The Sharadamba temple in Shringeri was established by Sri Shankaracharya when he established the Sharada Peetham Matha here. It is a beautiful temple, set in the Malnad region. Shringeri is located on the banks of the river Tunga. It is a famous pilgrimage center, and very important for the followers of Shankaracharya.

DHARMASTHALA MANJUNATHA TEMPLE

KUDROLI GOKARNANATHESHWARA TEMPLE

Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple is located just 3 km from heart of Mangalore city. The beautiful temple at Kudroli id dedicated to Lord Gokarnanatheshwara, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is believed that this place is used to graze land for the horses during the rule of Tipu Sultan. Hence, the name ‘Kudre’ (horse) 'vali' which was transformed into kudroli over time.

KADRI MANJUNATH TEMPLE

Kadri Manjunatha Temple is one of famous and ancient temples located on Kadri hills in Mangalore city. It is believed that the temple has been built during the 10th century and it was converted to a complete stone structure during the 14th century.

MANGALADEVI TEMPLE

The place name Mangalapura ( now Mangalore) owes its origin to the temple of Mangaladevi. Situated in Bolar about 3 kms from Hampankatta ( the heart of the city), the temple has its roots into the ninth century. The ardent devotees even today believe that the worship of Mangaldevi brings them prosperity and happiness. The name Mangalore is usually derived from the name Mangaladevi "The goddess Mangala", the main deity of the temple. The name Mangalore is the anglicised version of Kannada.

BAPPANADU DURGAPARAMESHWARI TEMPLE

Bappanadu Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple is situated in the bank of Shambhavi River at Bappanadu village of Mulki town. It is 29 K.M. north to Mangalore following National Highway No.17. The main deity of this temple is Goddess Shree Durgaparameshwari. The place Bappanadu means Bappa's village. As per the legend Bappa a Muslim merchant is responsble for temple construction. Annual festival (Brahma Rathotsava) of the temple falls in the month of April. Bappanadu Dolu (musical drum) is well known and There is a large drum that is kept in the side of the temple.

POLALI RAJARAJESHWARI TEMPLE

Shree Rajarajeshwari temple is located at Polali in Kariyangala Village of Bantwal Taluk in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka State. Shree Kshetra Polali is in the heart of this village surrounded by high hillocks and wide paddy fields. River Phalguni flows from east on the northern side a furlong way from the temple. It turns left towards south at the back of the temple in the Western side. This place was being called as Pural and the deity in the temple was known as Porala Devi in several old records and ancient epigraphs available.

GOKARNA MAHABALESHWARA TEMPLE

Srikshetra Gokarna is one of the holiest places in India. The Father of universe Parashiva is in Gokarna in the form of Athmalinga. The temple is located on the sea shore of the western sea. ANEGUDDE SHRI VINAYAKA TEMPLE

Anegudde village is located at a distance of 9 km south of Kundapura, in Udupi District. Anegudde is also popularly called as Kumbashi. The name Kumbhashi is said to be derived from demon Kumbhasura. According to the history, when drought hit this area, Sage Agasthya performed penance to appease the Varuna, the Rain God. During the penance, demon Kumbhasura started troubling the sages. Bheemasena gets weapon from Lord Ganesha to kill Kumbahasura and assassinate him at this place. Anegudde is rewarded one of the seven 'Mukti Sthalas' of Karnataka (Parashurama kshetra). The temple at Anegudde is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka (Ganesha). Anegudde is the combination of two words – 'Aane' meaning 'Elephant' and 'Gudde', which stands for 'hillock' as it is the abode of the elephant-headed god, Lord Vinayaka.

SHIRSHI MARIKAMBE TEMPLE

SAHASRLINGA TEMPLE

Sahasralinga is a pilgrimage place, located around 14 km from the Sirsi Taluk in the district of Uttara Kannada of Karnataka state in India. It is in the river Shalmala and is famous for being the location where around a thousand lingas are carved on rocks in the river and on its banks.

BANAVASI MADUKESHWARA TEMPLE

The renowned Madhukeshwara temple is the prime attraction of Banavasi, a quaint town located in Uttara Kannada district. Banavasi was the capital city of the Kadamba kings, the first royal dynasty of Karnataka who established their empire in 345 AD. The only remains of the ancient Kingdom of the Kadambas is the famous Madhukeshwara temple of Banavasi. The entire life of the town revolves around this temple. Built in stone around 1,500 years ago, it was renovated with additional structures by later dynasties. The presiding deity of Madhukeshwara (Lord Shiva) is a honey colored Linga installed during the period of the first king of Kadambas. It also has a seven feet Nandi idol made of a single stone.
